When you are covering one of the biggest Hollywood premiers of the season, you hope and pray that your space on the press line is as close to the finish as possible. More importantly, as a journalist, you need to make sure that you grab interviews with as many stars of the film as you possibly can.
There are times that one of the stars of the film happens to be the producer. Particularly a legendary producer like Jerry Weintraub. His producing credits include Nashville, Diner, Happy New Year, The Karate Kid, National Lampoon’s Vegas Vacation, The Karate Kid (2010 film), and the remake of Ocean’s Eleven, Twelve and Thirteen. In addition to producing Ocean’s 12 and Ocean’s 13, he appeared in all the Ocean films. In Ocean’s 11 he is seen at a table talking to Carl Reiner and is identified in audio commentary on the DVD edition.
Despite the tip sheet ( list of actors appearing on the red-carpet) being covered with names of A List actors the likes of Clooeny, Pitt and Damon, not to forget other mega stars like Julia Roberts and Andy Garcia, I was looking forward to being able to speak to the producer, Jerry Weintraub him self. The man responsible for orchestrating 3 of the most challenging star-studded productions in Hollywood history, the Ocean’s trilogy.
When I asked him what it takes to be able to book and shoot all these stars in one location, he had an answer that I could not refuse to accept. Why don’t you watch my interview with Jerry and hear his answer for yourself. Click bellow for the video.
